Jean Hart
Jean Hart is a professional artist who has been painting and exhibiting her fine artwork in Nevada for eight years. In the summer of 2001, she injured her back and had to quit her work as a baker. In the Fall of 2001, Jean decided to take art classes at Great Basin College to become a full-time artist. She started Jean Hart Artwork in September, 2009. To date, Jean has exhibited her fine artwork in the Northeastern Nevada Museum, Sierra Java Coffee Shop, Imagine That Art Gallery, and the Elko Convention Center. She also maintains a solid reputation in the Nevada community through donations of her original artwork and prints for various charity auctions and organizations.
A history of achievement:
- In 2001, Jean sold her first painting, "Autumn Ranch House," at the Great Basin College student art show. This encouraged her to join the Elko County Art Club later that year. http://www.gbcnv.edu/
- From 2002-2009, Jean entered her artwork in the Nevada County and State Fairs and won numerous first and second place ribbons. Jean also won the Lavern Hunt Award at the Elko County Fair in 2002 for the acrylic painting, "Cow In The Field" and again in 2005 for her watercolor painting, "Gold Bird". The Lavern Hunt Award is considered to be the highest achievement in the professional, fine-art division. - In 2005, Jean served as Vice President for the Elko County Art Club and resigned from the position in 2006. She left the club in 2007 to begin her solo career. http://elkocountyartclub.org/home.htm
- In May of 2007, Jean organized her first solo exhibit, "Artwork From My Heart," which premiered at the Northeastern Nevada Museum. The exhibit featured 12 of Jean's original acrylic paintings accompanied by 12 of her own original poems. The artwork and poems where presented and recited by the Silver Stage Players. - In September of 2007, Jean exhibited a new show, "The Box Theory," at the Sierra Java Coffee Shop in conjunction with The Gallery In Lamoille. The exhibit featured 30 never-before-seen original pieces. http://www.sierrajava.com/
- From October through December of 2008, Jean's largest solo show, "Kaleidoscope Of Colors," exhibited at the Northeastern Nevada Museum and featured 10 selected pieces from her previous show, "The Box Theory," as well as 40 never-before-seen acrylic pieces. http://www.museumelko.org/
- In February of 2009, Jean was the spotlight artist for the online exhibit, "Dreams Of Artists," for Gaia. www.gaia.com
- In March of 2009, Jean became a co-founder of the 4womenart group; a collaboration of four professional artists that share their talent, knowledge and support with the art community of Elko, Nevada and host exhibits for regional artists to share their artwork through friendly competitions.
